"Autumn Field"

Is my interpretation of a stand of trees in the distant with a field in front and beyond during the beginning of autumn.  You can smell the fields.  This is against a clear sky with some clouds to show distance.

"Twin Towers"

It is my tribute to the Twin Towers from the “Wall” of  Ellis Island  It shows Manhattan against a    cloudy sky.  It brings back a lot of memories.  The water that separates them from each other, makes it seem closer.

"Yerba Mate"

It shows the drink of  Paraguay. The shop keeper is  taking time out, for his refreshment. I tried to show the texture of the wall to his shop.  Also how the light affects it. I tried to show the shadows of the store keeper. I do not usually do not do people in my work, but this said something to me. 

Biography

My site is justjohnfilandro.com where I have more work for viewing.  My Daughter attended South Hampton College, LI on a scholarship.  Weeks before she graduated she came down with Cancer.  After many years of Art Therapy she came back to her old form in art.  I helped in that process.  I have been in Museums and various galleries.  I have been fortunate to receive many awards since returning in 2002.  I have had an Exhibit by myself and one with my Daughter.  I am past 65 years old.  I sold my first advertisement in oils when I was a teenager.  My landscapes and Lighthouses are in private collectors through out the nation.  I now only work in watercolor.  I am always trying to bring the viewer into the picture. To make the viewer, see nature’s beauty in all of life.  I recently joined the longislandartgroup.com.  They have some of my latest works available.
